If you said YES

What a day! You have been ‘born of the Spirit’ to eternal life, and your true identity and destiny has been sparked into life. There is a celebration in heaven today, but it’s just the beginning of an unimaginable adventure in God’s kingdom. The Bible says “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love him.” You have responded to the message that Jesus “has destroyed death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.”

It might help to write down today’s date and then begin by telling someone what has happened to you. Rediscover Jesus by reading the Gospels in the New Testament every day, follow what Jesus says, talk to him all the time. There’s so much more to discover about God’s strategy in history, and if you would like to ask a question, request prayer, tease out a problem, or just tell what’s happened to you today e-mail office@trinity.ie . See the rest of this website for further help in growing as a Christian or in finding Christian community in Dublin. I hope we get to say hello.

If you said ‘NO’ or ‘NOT YET’

There may be several reasons why you might not have felt you could say ‘Yes’ today. If you have an honest intellectual question about Christianity, check on Amazon for Dr Gregory Boyd’s Letters From a Skeptic or Dr Alister McGrath’s brilliant Twilight of Atheism. Or you might consider attending an introductory Alpha course in your area. Or just start reading the Gospel of John.

Perhaps at this point you don’t have a particular sense of need at all. Keep this page bookmarked for the ‘pigfood’ days! But let me be bold and direct. Please reconsider Jesus. He is the one in whom hope, wholeness and eternal life is found, as testified by the current worldwide expansion in Christianity. It would be remiss and cowardly of me not to say to you that Jesus warns (with compassion) of a coming time when we will all give account to God, and that there is eternal lostness, a ‘second death,’ for those who refuse to grasp God’s lifeline, as well as eternal life and unimaginable personal freedom and wholeness for those who do. Thank you for reading this far. I am sure it indicates a longing in your heart. I hope we meet one day.

MSM5: Destiny

STEP 5: Destiny

Jesus came to announce that the amazing power of God’s kingdom was now at people’s fingertips.“The time has come. The kingdom of God is at hand. Repent and believe the good news!” As it says in the Lord’s Prayer the kingdom is God’s liberating will being done “on earth as it is in heaven.” When you say ‘Yes’ to Jesus, you’re saying yes to his kingdom rule; that is, you want him to ‘king-it’ in your life here on earth. He is becoming your ‘Master’, but the only one whose service is perfect freedom, full of love and joy. Turning around from going your own way to following Jesus’ way is what the Bible means by ‘repentance’.
When you turn around, receive Jesus as your Saviour and Master, and ask him to flood your life with his Holy Spirit, several important things happen:

• You are completely forgiven for all sins. God will never hold them against you.
• God’s own life, his ‘DNA’, comes into you, and you are born again spiritually.
• You become a true child of God.
• Your destiny begins in God’s kingdom.
• The Father and the Son live in your heart by the Holy Spirit. Amazing!

Step 5 then is accepting Jesus – his salvation and rescue – saying ‘No’ to the foolishness of the past and ‘Yes’ to his rule in your life. You might pray something like this (God’s ear is in just front of your mouth and he hears the smallest whisper):

Father, I come home to you now because you have loved me even when I was lost and rebelled against your way. I am so sorry that I thought life was to be found somewhere else. Please forgive me. I acknowledge Jesus as my Saviour and I give my life to him now. Make me your child and a citizen of your kingdom, and fill me, baptise me, with your Holy Spirit. I reject every idea and action that is contrary to your will and I submit myself joyfully to Jesus Christ. Amen… or YES!
