BASIS OF FAITH

Our mission is very simple: we want to bring Jesus to people and people to Jesus so that they will become his followers or ‘disciples’. For Trinity Church Network this mission is primarily focused on Dublin, one of the world’s wonderful cities, but our heart is for the whole world.

Our message concerns the good news about who Jesus is and what he has done, and about the Kingdom of God. Jesus came to destroy the things that prevent people from having a relationship with God and from experiencing all that God wants for them. Jesus came to bring people

• total forgiveness for everything they have ever done wrong
• release from all kinds of captivity and bondage
• beauty, wholeness, and hope for the future instead of aimlessness or ash-heap lives
• gladness instead of mourning
• and a life of true praise to God instead of darkness and despair.

This is what Jesus meant when he asked us to pray that God’s kingdom would come, i.e. that his will would be done on earth as it is in heaven. There are many ways in which we tell the message, including teaching, street celebrations, literature, videos and tapes, through the media, and personally with our friends.

Our method involves both modelling the message and making disciples.

By modelling we mean that the church is to be a model of what it is like when people have been set free by the Holy Spirit to live under the rule of God. We hope if you visit Trinity Church Dublin you will see something of the joyful worship and the changed lives of those who have become committed Christians. Church should be a little bit of heaven on earth, so our task is to make disciples of Jesus, by teaching every believer how to express God’s kingdom in the midst of contemporary society. Jesus’ mission is about transformation, not just about information. Discipleship training, building community and engaging in mission all take place primarily through our cell groups.

Trinity is strongly supportive of Evangelical Alliance Ireland (www.evangelical.ie) and has been in positive dialogue with the Irish Council of Churches.
